Dr. Simiao Chen is an Associate Professor (tenured) and Head of Research Unit for Population Medicine and Public Health at Heidelberg Institute of Global Health at Heidelberg University in Germany, a Visiting Professor at Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College in China, a Recipient of China's National High-Level Overseas Talent Recruitment Program and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow. Her primary areas of research include population medicine and global health evidence-based decision-making, global health metrics and methodology, health economics and systems, behavioral intervention, health data science and AI. She has published more than 160 articles in renowned journals such as the Lancet, JAMA, BMJ, Nature Medicine, Lancet Global Health, Lancet Planetary Health, JAMA Oncology, which have been cited >36,000 times. She is also listed among the world's top 2% of most influential scientists globally in 2022-2025, with her most recent ranking in the top 0.3% for 2025.
